About Us

Our law firm was founded in 1983 and has a history of over 30 years. During that time we have been growing and expanding the scale of business as responding to the changes of the times, working consistently to become a law firm with a good faith and a strong sense of responsibility for all.

Currently we have thirteen qualified lawyers working at the main office in Sapporo and at three branches in Tomakomai, Iwamizawa and Takikawa. In addition we have signed a business alliance agreement with SLOMA & CO (top-tier law firm in Shanghai, China) for cooperation in international legal affairs.

Fees

          1. 1. Legal consultation
            5,000 JPY per 30 min. (Initial 30 min. free)
            Exceptionally complicated cases: 10,000 to 30,000 JPY per 30 min.

            2-1 Cases related to payment of money
            Fees shall change as follows according to the amount of money you demand or you are demanded.  The amount of (A) in the columns of Remuneration (success fee) is equal to the acquired amount or the reduced amount of the demanded money.

            Cases not related to payment of money
            Fees shall be determined through consultation, in consideration of complexity of cases and expected time and effort.

Our History

In 1983, attorney Masashi Kodera founded “Masashi Kodera law office” in one room of an apartment in Sapporo with an area of approximately only 66 square meters where he and two clerks worked.

In 1990, an associate attorney started to work together to expand the scale of business.

In 1994, our law firm was moved to a room of the Minami-Odori Building, with an area of approximately 165 square meters.

In 1999, attorney Ryo Matsuda entered our law firm.

In 2002, our law firm was incorporated as a legal professional corporation and named “Kodera Matsuda Law office” with the amendment of the Lawyers Act. And attorney Masahiko Murata entered our law firm.

In 2003, we opened a new branch office in Iwamizawa.

In 2004, we opened a new branch office in Takikawa. And attorney Masataka Nakano entered our law firm. And our Sapporo office was renovated and enlarged to approximately 396 square meters.

In 2005, attorney Masashi Kodera became the chairperson of Sapporo Bar Association.

In 2006, attorney Masashi Kodera became the administrative director of Hokkaido Federation of Bar Associations.

In 2007, we opened a new branch office in Tomakomai. And attorney Mitsuhiro Onoda entered our law firm.

In 2008, attorney Masashi Kodera became the vice-president of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations.

In 2010, we signed a business alliance agreement with SLOMA & CO (a law firm in Shanghai, China) to promote cooperation and exchange in international legal affairs.

In 2013, we marked the 30th anniversary of our founding.

In 2016, attorney Ryo Matsuda became the vice-chairperson of Sapporo Bar Association.

In 2017, we have currently thirty staffs: thirteen lawyers and seventeen clerks.
